I have my issues with American Express, but the fact is that Amex Offers is incredibly useful in saving cash and off-setting credit card annual fees. I easily earn hundreds of dollars worth of cash back from various Amex cards through these offers.
If you’re unfamiliar with how Amex Offers work, it’s simple: Log into your American Express account, click on the Offers tab, and you’ll see a long list of deals you can add to your account. Most of them are cash back deals while others offer bonus points.
Once an offer has been added to your account, you simply use your card and a statement credit or points will be credited to your account within a few weeks. This month, there are some really great travel and retail credits available through Amex Offers. Here are some of the best ones I’ve been targeted for:
Amex Offers Travel Deals
Virgin Atlantic: Spend $500+, get 10,000 Membership Rewards Points
Virgin Atlantic has some pretty good Upper Class fare deals – some of them under $2,000 roundtrip! For my birthday in December, I was considering booking one of these flights to London, then doing an award flight to Abu Dhabi in Etihad’s Apartments. Earning 10,000 Membership Rewards points would be a nice bonus!
Amex Travel: Spend $500+, get 10,000 Membership Rewards Points
I got two versions of this offer: One offering 7,500 points and the other 10,000. I’m trying to find a way to take advantage of this deal where I can earn both bonuses.
When I go to Chicago next month, I can probably hit both bonuses. My offer expires on September 30, so I’ve got to act fast!
HotelStorm: Spend $200, Get $50 Back
This deal from HotelStorm is pretty awesome. Not only do you save $50 on hotel bookings over $200, but there is no limit to the number of times you can take advantage of this deal.
Just make sure you book your stay through HotelStorm.com/Amex. If you have 2+ night hotel stay planned for $200 per night or more, you can book two separate reservations and save $100!
Hilton: Spend $500 or More, Get $100 Back
Amex Offers has a couple of different Hilton deals, all of which are great if you factor in one of their double or triple point promotions. I got targeted for a total of three Amex Hilton offers…on the same card!
1. Spend $500 or more, get $100 back (UK only)
2. Spend $300+, get 3,500 Membership Rewards points (US hotels only)
3. Spend $250 or more, get $50 back (US hotels only)
I don’t know if I’ll be able to take advantage of any of these deals, considering my main focus will be to milk that Amex Travel offer with the bonus points. But this is a solid back-up if I do max those other offers out.
Exhale Spa: Spend $125+, Get $25 Back
Have you heard the news about Hyatt buying Exhale Spa? Have you also not heard of Exhale Spa until you heard this news? Me too. I’m hoping that means we can start earning Hyatt points on spa treatments. How likely that is (and how soon), I don’t know.
If you find yourself in need of a spa day, Amex Travel is offering $25 back when you spend $125 at Exhale Spa.

Hulu: Spend $50 or more, Get $50 Back
I haven’t had a Hulu account in at least five years, but I recently reactivated it in order to watch The Handmaid’s Tale (amazing show – watch it!). With the Hulu Amex Offers deal, I essentially got a 4-month subscription for free.
The best part is that I got targeted for two of these offers, which are good through May 2018. So I can stretch out my free membership into next year.
Regardless of whether you think you’ll need a Hulu subscription, it’s free, so you should just get it. It’s perfect for those times when you’re stuck at the airport or the IFE sucks but you have in-flight wifi.
Hulu has tons of entertaining reality shows – my favorites? Real Housewives of New York City, any Kardashians episode where they go on vacation. Plus, there’s The Handmaid’s Tale, which is awesome, even if it feels a little too real at times. If the idea of a show with feminist themes bugs you (and/or you have a sense of humor), you might want to opt for The Handmen’s Tale.
Manufactured Spending Opportunities
Spend $100+, get 1,500 Membership Rewards Points at Grocery Stores
Amex is really targeting grocery stores with their offers this month. One of these includes 1,500 membership rewards points after spending $100 at grocery stores. The offer is valid at “online groceries” too, which makes me wonder whether Amazon fresh qualifies.
A few years back, my Amex Gold card coded Target as a grocery store. I don’t know if that’s the case with other Amex cards, but it’s worth checking since you can buy pretty much anything at Target, making this offer an easy one to take advantage of.
Earn 1 Additional Membership Rewards Point per $1 spent at Whole Foods
The last time I checked, Whole Foods didn’t sell pin-enabled Visa gift cards, but if your local store does then this is an easy way to bulk up on points. Even if you’re not using this offer for gift card churning purposes, chances are you can find a way to shop for non-overpriced, ridiculous items at Whole Foods.
Rite Aid: Get one additional Membership Rewards point for each dollar you spend
This is a pretty straightforward offer. What makes it so great for ms? If your local Rite Aid store lets you buy Visa gift cards with a credit card, this is a great opportunity to earn some bonus points cheaply.

Get 10% off Cable or TV Bill Payments
Amex is constantly offering discounts and statement credits for cable and tv bills, which has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years. Now, they’re offering a 10% rebate on cable or satellite tv bill payments through November 2017.
The statement credit is capped at $30, so you can earn it on up to $300 worth of bill pay. Taking advantage of this offer is a no-brainer. If you don’t have a cable bill to pay, offer this to a family member or friend. If nothing else, you get to earn free points while someone else saves a bit of cash.
Boxed.com: Spend $75+, Get Back $25
I’ve written about how much you can save with stackable Boxed.com deals. Amex Offers has two Boxed deals: One for a $25 statement credit when you spend $75 and another one offering an additional Membership Rewards point per $1 spent.
In addition to this, new Boxed.com members get $15 + 15% off their first order. If that’s not enough, members also earn 3% Boxed Cash Rewards for using an Amex card.
Spend $50 or More, Get $15 Back
I always thought of Etsy as an arts and crafts shop where people sold badly knitted mittens and ducktape-wrapped pens. Then I discovered Etsy is actually a treasure trove of Gilmore Girls memorabilia and as an obsessed fan, I easily filled my cart with more than $50 worth of stuff. You can stack your Amex Offers Etsy deal with shopping portal payouts of up to 4% cash back or 6 Avios per $1 spent.
There are lots of other great Amex Offers out there right now, so it’s definitely worth checking which ones you’ve been targeted for. There are tons of statement credit and bonus point offers for popular merchants like Best Buy, Sephora, Cole Haan, Banana Republic, and more.
