Card pickings have been pretty slim lately. So I can thank my dad and grandfather for serving in the U.S. Navy and making me eligible to join Navy Federal Credit Union.
Both Katy and I have the Navy Federal More American Express Card and use it constantly for the 3X at grocery stores as we have reached our $25K limit for this year with our 4X Amex Gold Cards.
At 3X minus fees for card purchase and money orders, I can pick up about $35 net twice a week with the close proximity of the best grocery stores close to our home (one stop at each store). I buy two $500 Visa gift cards at each store with each card and have had no problems to date.
The time invested in about 30-40 minutes per trip including liquidation to money orders and mobile depositing them to our banks. That card is great for us for long term activity.
The Navy Federal cashRewards Card only pays 1.5% cash back on all purchases but offers an easy $250 sign-up bonus after $2,500 of spending in the first 90 days. There is no annual fee for this card.
A month ago, I wrote that I wouldn’t get this card for the then-$200 bonus. Times have changed with no obvious larger sign-up bonuses in sight and well, I admit, I’m addicted to the game.
This card is NOT a long term player. When we hit the $2,500 spending requirement, the cards will hit the sock drawer and stay there as there, again, is no annual fee.
I found the link in a Doctor of Credit post and HT him here for the quick and easy $500 for the two cards. Here is the link to the offer.
Become a Navy Federal Credit Union member
We are extremely happy members. The rewards are easily transferred into their savings accounts or used as a credit against existing charges.
Take a look for yourself. Oh, and just FYI, Katy was approved for a line of $21,100 and I got a minuscule $5,300. Not that it really matters other than my pride and ego get bruised when this happens
