Follow me to Asia this week!

Sorry, no big-budget giveaways here. But you can take a virtual vacation with me as I head off to Asia this week! This is a family trip I’ve been planning for a while. I probably won’t ever book a trip seven months in advance again because the anticipation has been sheer torture. We’re just a few days away and while posting will be sparse when I’m gone (i.e. business as usual), you can follow me as I document the trip on Twitter and Instagram. This will hopefully suffice until the inevitable trip report gets published – which is probably going to be a while, as you can guess.

Here’s an overview of what you can look forward to reading about when I get back:

This trip consists of nothing that other bloggers haven’t covered, but it will probably include some colorful commentary to make it worth your while. Or skip the report and check out my social media pages for the visuals.

I’m still torn between staying at the Conrad or the Laguna Resort in Bali. If you’ve stayed at either property and have some feedback to share, please share in the comments. I’ve got activities pretty well planned but if there are any off-the-beaten-track sights or great restaurants you think I should check out, please let me know.

Now let’s all keep our fingers crossed that the weather doesn’t suck. After all, it would be such a shame to fly all the way to Bali only to be greeted with overcast skies.

I don’t know the Conrad, however, I did stay at the Laguna Resort this summer and it was very nice.

Thanks Jean! Did you stay in one of their villas? That’s what I’m considering booking at the moment.

From what I heard it’s supposed to be over on the 16th. I think we’re arriving on Eid, so it won’t interfere with our fasting.

Ariana, I have to tell you this one more time: You are a terrific writer! I found your writing clear and witty, so I truly enjoy reading your blog (I wish I were less lazy and could actually follow some of your actions…). Hope that you will enjoy your trip to Asia (I traveled with CX once in their economy class and I enjoyed it a lot)!

Ariana, keep your eye on the situation with the volcano in Bali. It may not be making the news in the USA but 1000’s of Aussies have been stranded with cancelled flights. I do think that Garuda has had fewer cancellations than Virgin or Jetstar. Just have an alternative plan such as Bali to Jakarta by ferry and bus/train in case DPS is closed again.

I’ve been following it this past week and hopefully it will settle down by the time we gear up to fly to Bali. I’ve held off on booking our DPS – KUL segment in this Bali doesn’t quite work out.
