Virgin America’s 2-for-1 Dallas fare promotion

Virgin America is running a 2-for-1 promotion on fares to/from Dallas (DAL), as part of their “Higher Expectations” campaign. To get in on this deal, simply head over to the promotion page and refer three friends to the Virgin America Elevate program. They will receive a 20% discount code and you’ll receive a 2-for-1 coupon within 48 hours. The promotion ends on April 8, 2015 at 11:59 PM (PT) and all travel must occur between April 7 – June 6, 2015. There are a few additional restrictions for both the 20% discount and the 2-for-1 fare:

Considering there are are just two blackout dates, this promotion is pretty generous. You could put it to good use if you’re headed to FTU Dallas next month or traveling to the area for any other reason (spring break, positioning flights, business, etc.). When I was in college in Los Angeles, I almost always chose Virgin America to fly back home – even though the fare was slightly higher and the flight was just an hour long.

It was the first frequent flyer program I ever redeemed miles with and while my flights were mostly short-haul, I can only imagine long-haul flights are much more pleasant with Virgin America than their competitors. Sure, I like Southwest and all, but on a long-haul East Coast flight I’d choose Virgin America over Southwest any day. They’re definitely not hyping themselves up when they advertise a better flying experience.

I just sent out a referral to three people who received it immediately. I received an email notification, stating that my 2-for-1 promo code should arrive within 48 hours. I’m not sure I’ll even use it, but I went through the process to test it out. If you want to refer someone (or be referred yourself), feel free to arrange that amongst yourselves in the comment section. Just be sure to format your email as follows: myname at gmail.com. This will hopefully keep your account from being subject to spam.

    1. Hmm, the ppl I sent a referral to, didn’t receive a promo code to save “up to 20%”. Is that language just indicating a fare that is on sale regardless of the “Free-a-friend” email?

    1. The only emails I’ve received are confirming the 20% has been sent (which they did receive) and that’s it.
