American Airlines is running a great promotion that allows you to earn lots of points and contribute to a good cause during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Throughout October, AAdvantage members who donate at least $25 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation will earn 20 miles per $1 spent.
The timing is really great for those who are organizing their year-end charitable contributions for tax purposes. Susan G. Komen Foundation is a great organization. This promotion is a nice way to support a wonderful cause and get rewarded with airline miles.
To earn miles on your contributions to Susan G. Komen, simply head over to the Be Pink page on the American Airlines website, choose the amount you want to donate, and provide your full name and AAdvantage number.
The minimum donation is $25, while the maximum is $10,000. The maximum number of AAdvantage miles that can be earned for charitable donations is 600,000 in a 12-month period.
In addition to offering 20 miles per $1 on charitable donations, American Airlines is raising awareness (and funds) through the following programs this month:
- In select Admirals Club locations, the purchase of certain pink menu items will result in a 20 percent donation.
- Be Pink Day: American Airlines employees will wear pink uniform items all month long, and encourage others to do the same on October 13, dubbed “American’s worldwide Be Pink day.”
- With your purchase of Project 7 Gourmet Gummies Grapefruit Melon, $2 of each sale (up to $40,000) is donated in support of breast cancer research.
- Throughout October, American Airlines will offer complimentary pink Dasani sparkling water and raspberry lemonade during flights.
This is a great cause worth supporting and the extra miles that can be earned are just an added bonus. That being said, you might want to use a mile-earning credit card that earns more than 1 mile per $1 spent to generate even more rewards on your charitable donation.

Thanks for the head’s up on this Ariana. I was able to use one of my prepaid MGCs from the Staples promo on the site after registering it. I find those MGCs hard to drain for MOs in my area, so was able to make a donation to a great cause and get some extra miles (on top of 5x UR and no GC fee!).
