  1. When’s category 5 coming out? 🙂

  2. You really missed the boat here by not mentioning the Hyatt Place New York/Midtown-South. It is a brand new hotel and the only one in Manhattan that is available in any category below Category 5. I stayed there recently and loved it. They have a free hot breakfast for all guests, nice views from the top floor rooms, and are conveniently located near Herald Square. If you have a free night certificate as a Hyatt Visa cardholder, this is the only place to use it in NYC, especially with the Hyatt 48 Lex being bumped up to Category 5.

Thanks for your feedback, Bob. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Hyatt Place, but I’m glad to hear it’s a decent place to stay.

      • That puzzles me. The hotel gets a thumbs up from 71% of the reviewers on Tripadvisor. It should be higher – I cannot understand why anyone would have a major issue with this hotel. I looked at a few of the negative reviews there and saw that a lot of the information given was simply false (e.g., the beds are hard as a rock – they are in fact very comfortable). The rooms are larger than average for NYC. Lots of natural light streams through the windows, and the lobby, halls, and rooms are beautifully decorated. The only problem I had was I was charged for the first night of a 2-night stay, even though the first night was an award stay. The front desk immediately removed the charge at checkout, but when I checked my CC statement the charge had been reinstated! I called the hotel and the front desk fixed the problem again immediately. If you get a chance, stay there and see for yourself.

  3. I think Tamaya Resort Hyatt Regency in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico should have been on your Honorable List. Its Adobe Construction and South Western Style blends in nicely in the desert. With its three pools and many outdoor activities, it is a very good use of points.
